I have never heard of the TV show, The Good Place, but its sounds very entertaining. I watched the TV show trailer and it looks like a very good program. It seems like a very funny show, and I kinda want to start watching it. It is about this women who finds out that she has died and has been sent to this Good Place which represents heaven. But in reality they have been sent to the Bad Place which represents hell where they will suffer. Each character goes through different struggles and suffer in different ways. The main character is trying to find out why she is here. The Good Place seems to have a diverse amount of characters living there including a robot, named is Janet. She knows pretty much anything you need to know. The program seems to show a lot of incongruity theory and benign violation. In the scenes described, its seems that there are many lines  that may offer a double take, making you think twice. The scene where she mentions the advice that her mother gave her is once example of making you think twice. You laugh out loud as the advice she offers is just so funny and weird. Her words of advice were given to her as a child  which makes it more funny. This example in the script shows the incongruity theory perfectly. The benign violation is often shown through the robot Janet. She sometimes says things at inappropriate times. Many times, her responses can be taken as offensive, but it's not too crazy where they have to take it off the show. Most of the time there is a happy median were the scene is the perfect kind of funny. Overall, the show seems extremely humorous and it expresses the incongruity theory and the Benign violation perfectly.

  1. It does seem that much of the humor is benign violation, but perhaps it shows that benign violation always has to have a darker framework for it to function, because the rest of the show is quite dark.
