Since the winter season is coming upon us, I also am excited that Christmas is around the corner. Christmas in December is one of the happiest times during the year. The best part is the the Christmas cookies, decorations, and of course the holiday movies. One of the most popular Christmas movies is Elf. I would have to agree with you on how it is one of the best Christmas movies around. It actually took me awhile to fall in love with the movie Elf. I always thought it was corny and tacky and I never really understood it until a couple years ago. But now that I watch it every Christmas, I have to agree on how it is one of the best Christmas movies around. The movie itself is quite funny. Buddy the elf, is an orphan that Santa has brought back from the north pole. He doesn’t look like all of the other elves because he is a human. The whole point of the movie is that he goes to New York in search of his dad. One of the funniest things about the movie, is that buddy walks around downtown New York dressed up in an Elf costume. He thinks it is completely normal. He sticks out. I think one of best scenes of the movie is the “Santa Scene”. I think this scene is a prime example of incongruity theory. Buddy the elf gets all excited because he is in Santa’s workshop in the mall and hears that Santa is coming. He acts exactly like a child and yells out “SANTA”. This scene is one of the iconic scenes of the whole movie. He is acting like a little kid. He is acting crazy and is dressed ridiculous. There are many instances like this in the movie that make it so humorous. The incongruity theory is one of the main theories show in the movie. Overall, this movie is very humorous, and I can’t wait for Christmas season to watch it.

    So having come to the movie later in life, what made you change? How did you start to see it as comedic gem? do you think you watch the movie in a different way from others?

The movie Deadpool is one of the funniest movies I have seen in awhile. When I am looking for a good laugh, I usually turn to this movie. I mean who couldn’t like it, its a superhero movie and it is a comedy, and come on who can’t love a good movie with Ryan Reynolds in it. Response #5 to Lead Blog Post

The Vines that Nikoleta posted are quite hilarious. It brought back some nostalgia to when Vine was the thing of our generation. Vine was the place to get a good laugh and was a place to make fun of people. I would have to agree with you when you say that almost every conversation with friends groups at the time used to always have a Vine reference in it. Now that Vine may not be as popular, it still is somewhat alive through other social media. Personally, it was never my go to social media but I enjoyed it at the time. Every now and then the Vines find a way to pop up in a newsfeed, and there even still being made as you mentioned. I watched the Vines that you provided and they are very funny. I think my favorite one is the Eggs one. It was about this “chicken” laying its eggs. The man came up to the “chicken” to take the eggs, and the “chicken” gets very upset because he took his eggs. Response to Blog Post

Superbad looks like an extremely hilarious movie. Personally, I have never seen the movie, but now I want too. I could see why so many people enjoy it. I watched the trailer and even the trailer was hilarious. The movie is about a group of boys, who are not the most popular in the school. The group of friends seem to be incredibly awkward. The friend group gets invited to a huge high school party, and they really want to go to impress the girls they like. One of the boys offers to bring alcohol to make themselves look cooler. One of their friends has a fake ID to get the alcohol, but they really struggle to retrieve the alcohol. Throughout the movie they go through difficult obstacle courses to try and be cool. The movie seems to be funny. I ended up watching a clip of the gas station scene. One of their friends with a fake ID goes to buy alcohol.
