Superbad looks like an extremely hilarious movie. Personally, I have never seen the movie, but now I want too. I could see why so many people enjoy it. I watched the trailer and even the trailer was hilarious. The movie is about a group of boys, who are not the most popular in the school. The group of friends seem to be incredibly awkward. The friend group gets invited to a huge high school party, and they really want to go to impress the girls they like. One of the boys offers to bring alcohol to make themselves look cooler. One of their friends has a fake ID to get the alcohol, but they really struggle to retrieve the alcohol. Throughout the movie they go through difficult obstacle courses to try and be cool. The movie seems to be funny.

I ended up watching a clip of the gas station scene. One of their friends with a fake ID goes to buy alcohol. He looks nothing like his fake ID and his name doesn’t even match on the ID as well. The lady asks for his ID and acts super nervous and makes it extremely obvious that he is not of age. Then all of a sudden, someone runs into the scene and steals money from the gas station. When the cops arrive on the scene, when trying to identify the robber, they act unprofessional and inappropriate. This scene contains a lot of incongruity theory, because there are many moments where things happen very unexpectedly. Benign violation also occurs through the scene because the police officers ask some racists comments to the cashier. The questions are not too offensive or not pushing it too much to where it should not be said on camera. Overall, the movie Superbad seems extremely funny and it is a good example to show incongruity theory and benign violation.

  1. One of the best aspects you didn't touch on is just the fact that Seth Rogen is played by Jonah Hill in a movie that also features Seth Rogen as the adult equivalent of the kids. It drives home the message that in a way, we are always still struggling with the same things we faced in earlier adult year.s
